Batgirl Camouflage: Flood N Baby

Let's admit. A new born baby and flood don't go together very nicely. Especially if the baby were 3 weeks early, like mine. When typing this, Baby Michael is 2 weeks old and very late last night we just moved upstairs to avoid the flood that hit all over Jakarta. For hours yesterday, we watched while the water level inched higher and higher and finally reached our terrace, praying for the rain to stop. It didn't. So, around midnite, my husband unplugged all electric devices, we grabbed some essentials for the baby and ourselves, some food, two huge gallons of mineral water, and moved upstairs.

Well, the doctor did say that I should not climb the stairs for at least 6 weeks, but she didn't mention any flood, so yeah, I did climb the stairs, very very slowly, with my dear husband watched over from right behind me. It hurt, but I didn't have a choice.

When we reached the second floor, my husband held my hand and said: "Welcome home, Princess." Our room used to be on the second floor, until my fourth month pregnancy, when I suffered a major bleeding and the doctor ordered: "No stairs!" and we moved to a spare bedroom downstairs.

For the very first time my husband and I began to understand why our baby arrived 3 weeks earlier. Well, the doctor scheduled the c section 2 weeks early than the normal due date, so technically Baby Michael arrived only 9 days early, but still.

If he arrived on schedule, he would still be very little and much weaker.

If he arrived on schedule, I won't be able to nurse him like I do now, since it took me about a week to start lactating. And how do we suppose to sterilize and prepare formula milk if it's really flooded and the electricity and water were cut off, as common here in Indonesia during thunderstorm?

Again, God does know what He's doing.

Now we're praying hard for the rain to stop so the dirty, brown water won't flood our home, but again, God has shown us His love and mercy through unexpected ways. We just need to trust Him and do our part as best as we can.

"The Lord does know human plans; they are only puffs of air.

Happy those whom You guide, Lord, whom You teach by Your instruction."

(The Books of Wisdom, Psalm 94:11-12)

Here are some pictures taken during my 17th week of pregnancy.
Sorry, I haven't got a chance to post any pictures of Baby Michael, but as you know, we're kind of occupied with surviving the flood right now. ^__^

I wore this batik print bat-style top here before my pregnancy.

  6. Congratulations on the baby. I am so sorry you have to endure the flooding. Mother nature is quite strange at times. Flooding one area while another is in drought and praying for rain. I shall pray for you and yours.
