Gratitude Journal: January

A while back, I posted this picture on my personal media.

It was a picture of the view I see everyday from my office window. Very mundane, right? Just some tall buildings and some very ordinary neighborhood around my office. Yet, on that particular day, what had seemed so ordinary suddenly became extraordinary.

You see, it's rainy season in Indonesia. I live in a tropical country, where everything is green all year round, and the sky is almost always clear blue. However, during the rainy season, days would pass when the sky becomes grey and overcast; and everything is gloomy as if someone is enveloping the Earth with a piece of grey gauzy cloth. For people who are used to bright colors in the tropics, it could be a little depressing!

You might have guessed by now that this picture was taken on a particular sunny day after about a week or so of cloudy days. It felt like everything was new and fresh and the sun was so gold and warm! Instead of lifeless grey, the clouds look like happy floating cottonballs, white and bright and cheery. I posted this on my social media, writing a little comment of how thankful I was for the clear sky and beautiful day, and I got so many "likes" from friends who felt the same way!

You see? There are so many things to be enjoyed in everyday life, if only we are willing to cast our eyes to the Heaven and think of Him who creates beauty and joy and goodness.

What are you thankful for this month?

I live in San Diego, so we, too, have many blue skies..I even look forward to the gray days, the sky is beautiful, blue or gray! I will look for many little things today to be thankful for! Visiting today from next door ant #soulsurvival!

I love your photo of your view out your window. Lately I have been noticing cloud formations and as I took through them, I know that God is HIGHER up even than the naked eye can see. Yet He sent Jesus from that far away place to come to earth so that we could be saved from our sins. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story.

Thanks for finding joy in the simple! I gave birth to my two older children in Thailand, and I bet the weather there is similar to what you experience everyday! We would love for you to link up this post at Literacy Musing Mondays #LMMLinkup http://www.foreverjoyful.net/?p=782
