For The Love of You

It was a week-long annual Idul Fitri holiday here in Indonesia when all businesses closed down and many people went back to the home town. And my parents came to town. And I had a terrible cold, coughing and sneezing for days. AND, I planned to spend some quality time with my husband, like going on a dinner date. Naturally, for all the reasons listed above, we did nothing during the holiday time except entertaining my parents and my other family members who came to visit, and took care of my illness.

Until I realize that the holiday is almost over. And still, no date with my husband. Honestly, I didn't mind. Work had been so crazy for the past months, there's nothing I'd like more than just relaxing at home. But I know that my husband just loves going out. He got bored staying at home all the time. I knew he was anxious to go out, just the two of us, minus the baby, and minus my parents like we had been doing during the week.

"Honey, would you like to go out for dinner tomorrow evening, just the two of us? Tomorrow is the last day before going back to work," I said.

My husband's face suddenly lighted up with joy and he answered immediately, "Sure! I'd love that!"

So we decided to try this Italian restaurant in the South of Jakarta for a romantic dinner. Having decided where to go, I went up to my room, did some research on the internet about the restaurant menu, picked up my ensemble for tomorrow's date, etc.

Then my husband walked into the room and said, "What if we go to a movie for a matinee show instead of going to dinner?"

For a moment I didn't answer. I thought we already agreed where to go. I didn't really want to go, I offered because I wanted to please him! And here he was, changing our plan just like that! I mean, I already picked out the dress!!

Then it hit me. I love going out to dinner. I always had. But what my husband loved, loves, was, is, going out to movies. He never missed any good movies before we got married. But after we got married, he rarely go to the movies, since he'd like to go with his wife, and his wife just does not like to go to the movies.

Aaaand I offered the date to please him. It's not about me. It's about us.

So I smiled, looked him in the eye, and said, "You really want to go to the movies?"

He nodded and smiled like a little boy.

I kissed the tip of his nose and said, "Alright, Honey. We'll go to the movies."

The movie, Wolverine, turned out to be a little bit disappointing. But my husband loved the date, and on the way home he thanked me for accompanying him for the matinee show.

So he was pleased after all. And that pleased me. ^__^

This is what I wore for the casual day out, instead of the dress I prepared for the Italian dinner.

I got this unique, one of a kind, embroidered, pink butterfly top when I went for a vacation to Bali several years ago. You can find this kind of butterfly tops practically everywhere in Bali, but they usually come in white color. I never saw it in pink, and I love pink, so I snatched this one right away.

This is how it looks up close.

I paired the top with these mirror type, sparkly butterfly earrings that I got from the kid's section at a department store a few years back. Hey, everyone of us got a little kid inside, rite!

These bracelets also came from the kid's department. My Mom hates it when I dress like this, you know, with a little bit of fun, childlike, experiments. She said it's not classy and not age appropriate. But hey, it makes me happy! I look at this cheap looking, plasticky, childish, coral bow bracelet, and smile! ^__^

Stopping by from Winsome Wed. It's great that you understood it was more important to please your husband and do something together and to just please yourself. He will remember that often and feel honored and loved. Love your cute outfit. Kim
