It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Hello, Friends!

I've been so busy with life lately I didn't have time for blog writing or blog walking. However, I managed to squeezed one evening to create a Christmas corner for my living room; and we invited Hubby's younger siblings to our home and help us set up and decorate the Christmas tree last Saturday afternoon then had some early dinner and ice cream afterwards. It was a fun time and a holiday season memory that will last a last time. If you have not started to make your holiday tradition, I urge you to think creatively and start one now. It's fun, it doesn't require much money, and a good family bonding.

This is what our living room looks like.

I spent zero money to create this Christmas corner, using things I already had around the house. This year I wanted to do something different, which is this cascading Christmas corner. I stacked some cardboard boxes of different sizes to set different heights as the base. Then I threw on some red cloths, a gold dress and a red with white polkadot baby doll of mine to make it looks festive. You really don't need to buy a special cloth for this, any cloth or clothes with Christmas colors will do. I just tucked the collar and sleeves behind and spread the skirts at the front side so no one could tell that they are actually dresses! Then I just placed whatever cute things I already have that will match the season on top: a Snowman I got together with cookie parcel last year, a serving silver platter to brighten up the rather dark corner, some Fall style dolls, used Starbucks Christmas paper cups (washed first, of course!), some odds and ends from previous years' Christmas presents.

There is nothing fancy about our Christmas tree ornaments, except perhaps the tree itself. It's an artificial tree Hubby and I bought the first Christmas of our marriage, and we opted for a big, good quality tree that will last us for years and years to come.  We only bought twinkling lights, some gold and silver and red balls and that's all. The rest of the ornaments and sparkly bows are gifts, came with parcels, and some Teddy Bears came as wedding souvenirs. I personally think that as tempting as some expensive Christmas ornaments sold at the stores could be, anything colorful and sparkly - though less expensive - will decorate any Christmas tree just as beautifully. Once in a while we might buy some ornaments that we really really like, but we don't feel like spending tons of money for our tree. The spirit of gathering together with family members in the process is what matters to us. Of course, everybody is different. This is just what works for our family. ^__^

We still have not find the kind of angel or star that we really like for the top of tree, so just like last year and the year before that, we made do with the Santa hat!

I know that many say that Christmas time nowadays are way too commercialized and lost its meaning, which is the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and His willingness to be born into this world of ours. However, I personally think that the festive season is fun and joyful, as long as we keep everything balanced. I love to see the lights and sparkling Christmas decorations at the malls. It seems like all major department stores and malls are all dressed up for Christmas, putting on their best and most festive attire!

Last but not least, just in case I'm too occupied with holiday season to write any post until 2015, I'd like to wish you all

Merry Christmas,

and if you don't celebrate Christmas,

Happy December,

Happy Holidays,

and Happy New Year 2015!
