French Connection

Pastis is a French liquor. And it's a delightful little bistro in Kuningan, right across the street of Jakarta's posh Four Seasons Hotel. It's a pretty establishment with white gleaming interior, romantic and cozy atmosphere. AND after work tonite, I'm having dinner there.

I usually wear this white ballerina-style skirt with black jacket and white blouse, because as you can see, the embroidery details on the skirt is black. However, sometimes, as sophisticated black and white combination is, it can be so b-o-r-i-n-g. That's why today I pair the skirt with an old navy blue baby tee and navy blue blazer. Hey, who says you can't combine black and navy?

The navy top has a geometric diamond design, and I found it hard to coordinate with anything since navy is not my color and I don't own many navy clothes, so I'm delighted to be able to get it out of the piles in my closet today!

The Anne Klein jacket has some stitching detail in white thread. My boss teased me, "Are you wearing your jacket inside out?" Ouch. Men. What do they know about fashion. Except men designers of course. And male hair stylists.

Again, my sense of Miss Matching came in these white earrings and white bangle I'm wearing. The butterfly necklace I threw on the last minute, afraid that it would be too much for office look. The bright red is almost an afterthought, because all the navy and white look so color-coordinated I look like Miss Prissy.

Anyways, these are some snaps taken from the dinner.

Hhhhmmmm by reading and looking at the pics, I reaally need to comment and be brutally honest..

Having read the title here: french connection, also made me want to write a comment..
Sorry if I will end up offending you but I guess this can be a good reference for u about how to mix match and to dress properly..

1st of all: wearing a stocking or panty hose is quite too much in the tropical country.. Except if u work in the office that aircon is bloody freezing or if let's say u need to attend an event which requires u wear something smart (pencil skirt, blazer, shirt, stocking, high heels).. But if u just wanna go for having dinner, oh man, not need to wear stocking!

2nd: it's a big No No wearing a stocking with high heels/flat sandal like the one you were wearing in the pic! Wearing stocking should be with shoes.. Either ordinary shoes or peep toe shoes.. But never with sandal!

3rd: what u were wearing is too much: pattern tee-shirt with that stitching pattern jacket plus medium long earrings, necklace, bracelet.. That's too much...oh girl, it looks like u r emptying ur closet coz u wear all the stuff and it's just too much .. If u insist to wear that t shirt, do not wear the jacket with a pattern.. Just a plain jacket but trendy with sophisticated cutting and do not wear any necklace (wear earrings only is enough)
4th: that red bracelet, don't wear it..

Wow, such a lengthy comment!
First of all, no, you haven't offended me at all, really. On the other hand, thanks for taking the time to give your inputs.
No. 1: They're stockings (not pantyhose), and yep, I work in a cold AC-ed environment. I always wear 'em whenever I wear skirt for work. And the dinner is right after work.
No. 2: Yes, I'm very much aware of the rule and just based on neccessity and condition I deliberately decided to throw it out the window! You see, I cannot stand wearing anything but open toe because they hurt my feet (well, except sneakers off course). If you think this is bad, you should see the post when I wore BLACK stockings with WHITE open toe heels! lol Ow, actually they're not flats, they're 3-inch heels, but you're right, in the pics they do look like flats, so I guess it means next time I need to take better pictures.
No. 3: Yep, as I wrote in the post, the necklace I threw on the last minute, afraid it would be too much, but I did it anyway. Guess I just felt like wearing all the things I could find in my accessories box that morning!

So yes, I choose to follow whatever rules of fashion applicable for me and break all the others that are not. (Of course I don't do that for all kinds of rules, hehe...)

Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by and give me inputs. Need it for improvement. I really appreciate that you did. Glad that someone cares enough to do that. You've made my day! ^_^
